The Boyne Valley Lions Club was chartered of the 18th of April 1979 with 30 members. The Club now has 19 members.
We meet on the 4th Thursday of each month at the CWA Hall at Ubobo at 7:30 p.m.
The members of the Boyne Valley CWA cater for our dinner meetings and have done so since 1979.
The Boyne Valley is a small rural community with a population of approximately 150 people.
When the ratio of members to population in country clubs is compared to city clubs, you will find that there is a lot more community commitment in rural areas.
One of the first projects of the club , in 1980,was to build the barbecue area at Ubobo.
This area has served the community well over the last 26 years.
It was built of second-hand materials donated by members, and is starting to show signs of its age.
This year the club's project of the year, is to complete the barbecue area at Ubobo, and run our 'Rock & Thistle Golf Day' on 12th July
Some of the projects the club has undertaken in the Valley are tree planting around the townships and provision of four concrete picnic table and chairs around the Valley.
We help other organisations with projects such as, concreting at Nagoorin Hall, painting at the Discovery Centre, help out at the Mountain Challenge, and the Builyan Spring Fair each year.
We have a merry-go-round that is used at functions in the Valley.
