Ubobo Mountain Challenge and Family Fun Run

Unfortunately we had to cancel the 2011 event due the wet & boggy conditions at the race venue following a record wet season.

The Mountain Challenge was a great success in 2010. Once again we had a full field & had to turn some runners away. Please nominate early for 2012 to avoid disapointment. For race times & places for 2010 please click here.

The May Day (Sunday 2nd) long weekend will again see Mt Robert come alive. Many campers arrive as early as Friday afternoon and enjoy the whole weekend.

About the Ubobo Mountain Challenge and Family Fun Run

Held annually at the foot of Mt Robert, near Ubobo, the Ubobo Mountain Challenge and Family Fun Run is one of the Boyne Valley’s most exciting and enjoyable events. Currently in it’s 10th year, the Mountain Challenge continues to grow in popularity and is seen as a challenging course, with great atmosphere surrrounding the weekend.

Gladstone Observer’s reporter, Gregor Mc Taggart, writes about the 2005 event;

“TODAY’S bouquet goes to the organisers of the 2005 Ubobo Mountain Challenge. I made the trek out to the Boyne Valley for the first time yesterday and had a truly enjoyable time. To experience one of this region’s unique events was certainly a pleasure. To see kids from four years old to people upwards of 70 having such a top time was great. So from me, congratulations to all the organizers and those special volunteers for putting on such a memorable event”

The main event of the weekend is the running of the Mountain Challange, an energizing race covering approximately 5.2 kilometres (round trip) up & down Mount Robert. However there is also a full weekend of family bush entertainment and activities. Many of the rides are free. The base camp is a very pretty spot with acres of room to choose from, for tent or caravan. Hot showers and a new toilet block are available.
