Excellent fishing, featuring barramundi, is available on the Awoonga Dam year round. River fishing can be very good in good seasons.
Golf courses are located at Calliope and Miriam Vale, each about 35 minutes drive from the centre of the valley.
The Ubobo Mountain Challenge (athletic events) provides a unique sporting opportunity each May Day long weekend.
The Boyne Valley Canoe Club has regular outings on the Awoonga Dam.
Polo Cross players make the short (35minute) drive to Calliope to compete. More information is here. Many travel State wide for more competition. Bill Oram has a polo cross field at Boxvale, near Builyan.
